Welcome To My Campaign Website...

In 2009 the voters of Social Circle honored me by electing me to represent them on the Social Circle City Council. I am seeking re-election so I may continue to serve my fellow citizens with honesty and integrity. I want to continue to make our city the most prosperous, freedom-friendly and kindest in the state, the city which deserves to be called "Georgia's Greatest Little Town."

I believe that government is best when it focuses on basic fundamental needs.  When government overreaches its fundamental purpose and intrudes into areas of life in which it has no business, it becomes bigger, more expensive, more intrusive, and less effective.

It is my plan to focus on the core reasons we have local government: securing our property rights, ensuring we are safe in our homes and neighborhoods, maintaining city streets and roads, economic development, and providing quality services like parks and recreation.

The best way to secure these goals is to not only keep moving forward on the road to greater liberty, but to also foster stronger ties between neighbors and neighborhoods, between citizens and City Hall, and cultivate a strong commitment of kindness to each other.

There is still much to do for the City of Social Circle. When re-elected, I will continue to work on our City Code of Ordinances and Policies to ensure all businesses, employees of the city, and all citizens are treated fairly and with respect. I will continue to build upon my good relationship with our Appointed Boards, City Council, Walton County Chairman and Commissioners, other City Officials and our Elected State Officials to enhance our ability to communicate any needs of the city requiring their input or assistance. I will continue to work on our Strategic Plan to ensure our future is bright while maintaining our small town feel and atmosphere. I pledge to keep our taxes low and reduce them as possible, and I will continue to ensure that our local government is a prudent and responsible steward of our tax dollars.

I have learned that the citizens of Social Circle are no different than those in any other city when it comes to their expectations of local government. We expect our city government to run efficiently and for our city to be well maintained; we expect our city roads and sidewalks to be clean, safe, and kept in good repair; we expect our city parks, cemeteries and other public spaces to be well tended. We expect our Public Safety Department to protect us where we live, work, and play, and to do so with professionalism, compassion and respect. We expect that our local government should never forget the central fact that they are spending someone else's money, and that we must be prudent and responsible stewards of tax payer dollars. When we contact City Hall with a problem, we expect to be treated with respect and provided with a fair solution within reason. As a business owner and Councilman, I know from first hand experience that our government doesn't create economic growth, but can stifle it. My feeling is that our government can reduce taxes when possible and limit regulations to encourage business growth and strengthen our economy.  As a member of the Social Circle City Council, I am committed to ensuring that our expectations are fulfilled.

If you ask any of the hundreds, if not thousands, of people that I have interacted with since my election, you will hear that I am approachable, responsive, and take the necessary steps to get things done. I have a proven record of keeping taxes low and being a good steward of our tax dollars (verifiable through review of Council minutes). In addition to my 35 years of proven leadership experience with AT&T, I am personally dedicated to local government training and continued education and, since mid-2009, have completed 144 hours of training (Click here to see a list and description of the courses I have completed.)

I have been honored to receive the prestigious awards of "Certificate of Recognition," "Certificate of Achievement," and "Certificate of Excellence" from the Georgia Municipal Training Institute and the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute for Elected Officials. I was also extremely honored in 2012 to be awarded a Certificate for successful completion of "Leadership Training for Elected Officials" by the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute.

I am able and willing to commit the time to be an extremely effective and productive Council Member.  I pray that God will lead, guide and direct me to make decisions for our city that are both pleasing to him and beneficial to us all.

I humbly ask for your support and your vote.
